For you if

You need a recognised Level 3 before you can start advanced skin or laser training, and you would rather not sit in a classroom to get it.

  • You have no previous qualification and no experience
  • You want to study entirely online, around work
  • You want to start the day you enrol, with no fixed dates
  • You want to sit the VTCT exam from home when you are ready

Not for you if

You already hold a Level 3 beauty therapy qualification. Send me what you have and I will check it before you spend anything.

  • You already hold a Level 3 in beauty therapy
  • You want hands-on practical training, which this course has none of
  • You want a tutor in the room and a fixed class date

What it unlocks

Where this one leads.

On its own this is theory, and you cannot treat anybody with it. What it does is meet the entry requirement for the training you actually want.

Where Level 3 can take you next

  • Advanced Cosmetic Procedures with electrolysis

Advanced electrolysis and blemish removal work, which needs a Level 3 behind it before you can train in it.

  • Manufacturer-led advanced skin training

Microneedling, radiofrequency, microcurrent and other advanced skin technologies. Most manufacturers will not take you without a Level 3.

How the online course works

How it runs.

There are no set start dates and no travel involved. Once you enrol, you can begin straight away and work through the course at a pace that fits around you.

This is a full Level 3 qualification, so there is plenty to learn and it does require proper study. You won't be left to figure it out alone though. If you have questions as you work through the course, I'm there to support you.

  1. Work through the modules

Professionally produced learning modules, a downloadable workbook and knowledge checks as you go, on the academy learning platform. Study at whatever pace fits around work and family.

  2. Sit the mock exam

A full mock examination before the real one, so you find out what you do not know while it still costs you nothing. Revision resources come with it.

  3. Sit the VTCT exam, from home

The externally set VTCT examination is completed online, when you are ready rather than when a term ends. Most students reach this point within four to eight weeks.

Why it is taught, not just sold
Students often tell me I make complex topics easy to understand and that they never feel intimidated or afraid to ask questions.

Who teaches it

A theory course is only
as good as its teacher

Most online anatomy courses are a workbook and an exam booking. This one comes with a teacher, and on a knowledge qualification that is most of the difference.

The usual online course.
And ours.

£395 plus VAT, paid once. Before you set that against a cheaper headline price, it is worth knowing what the cheaper ones leave out, because most of them are not one price at all.

The usual online A&P course

  • A course price, then a separate VTCT registration fee
  • A textbook you order yourself
  • A self-study pack with no tuition
  • You arrange your own exam
  • No mock exam before the real one
  • Nobody to ask when you get stuck

Studying with the Academy

  • One price, with VTCT registration and certification inside it
  • Learning modules and a downloadable workbook, included
  • Knowledge checks and quizzes throughout
  • A full mock exam before the real one
  • The external VTCT exam, included, sat from home
  • Tutor support from me, throughout the qualification
Questions

Before you enrol.

If your question is not here, ask it on the call. It comes straight to me.

Do I actually need Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology?

Only if you do not already hold a Level 3. A Level 3 is what the VTCT Level 4 Laser Hair Reduction and a lot of advanced skin training ask for, so if you hold nothing at Level 3 yet, you need one, and this is the quickest route to it. If you already have a Level 3 beauty therapy qualification, it may already meet the requirement. Send me what you have and I will check it before you spend anything.

Is it hard?

It is a real Level 3 and there is a lot of content, so it takes proper study rather than a weekend. It is not difficult in the sense of being beyond anyone: there are no entry requirements and complete beginners pass it every year. What makes the difference is having someone to ask when a system does not make sense, which is what a self-study pack does not give you.

What is a Level 3 equivalent to?

On the Regulated Qualifications Framework, Level 3 sits at the same level as A levels and BTEC National qualifications. It is not a degree and it is not a Level 4. What matters in practice is that it is Ofqual regulated, which is what training providers and insurers check.

Is VTCT the same as an NVQ?

Not quite, and the two get confused constantly. NVQ is a type of qualification. VTCT Skills is an awarding organisation, and it offers both NVQ and non-NVQ qualifications. This one is a VTCT Skills Certificate, regulated by Ofqual and recognised across the UK.

What can I do with it once I have it?

On its own, nothing clinical: it is a knowledge qualification, not a treatment one. What it does is open the door. It meets the Level 3 entry requirement for the VTCT Level 4 Laser Hair Reduction, for Advanced Cosmetic Procedures electrolysis, and for many manufacturer-led courses including microneedling, radiofrequency and microcurrent.

How long does it take, and is there a deadline?

You study at your own pace and most students finish within four to eight weeks. There are no timetabled start dates, so the course begins the day you enrol rather than the day a term does.

Do I have to travel anywhere, or sit the exam at a centre?

The course itself is completed online through the academy learning platform. VTCT examination arrangements can change, so the format of your final exam will depend on the current requirements at the time you are ready to sit it. I will make sure you know exactly what is required before you reach that stage.
