How it runs.
You’ll complete the theory online before your practical training day, so when you arrive at the clinic we can focus completely on hands-on learning.
The online learning gives you the knowledge and understanding behind the treatment. The practical day is where you put that knowledge into practice, working on real models with close guidance and support throughout. You won’t leave having only practised on a rubber head. You’ll have spent the day developing your technique on real people, so you can leave feeling confident in what you’re doing.
The theory, online
Fourteen chapters at your own pace, from skin anatomy to contraindications and aftercare. You complete it before your clinic day, so you arrive knowing the why and ready to work on the how.
One day on live models
Live demonstrations first, then supervised treatments on real faces. A photograph of a treated cheek tells you nothing about how the pen felt as it crossed the jawline.
Depth, watched
The setting that is right on a forehead is wrong under an eye, and no video can tell you when to change it. I watch what your hands do, at the moment they do it.
How you learn it
Develop confidence through live demonstrations and supervised practical treatments on live models.

What qualifications do you need for microneedling?
In the UK there is no single legal qualification for microneedling, which is exactly why the question keeps getting asked. What matters in practice is that your training is recognised by an insurer and that you can show supervised practical experience. This course asks for a Level 3 in Beauty, or a Level 3 in Anatomy & Physiology, before you book.
Do you need a licence to do microneedling in the UK?
It depends where you work. Microneedling breaks the skin, so some local authorities treat it under special treatment or skin piercing licensing and others do not. Ring your own council before you buy equipment, because the answer varies by borough and nobody selling you a course can give it to you.
Is this a VTCT or regulated qualification?
No. This is CPD training in cosmetic microneedling. A regulated route does exist, the Level 4 Award in Skin Needling, usually taught over six weeks or more and priced accordingly. If that is specifically what you need, it is worth knowing before you book anything, including this.
Can a complete beginner do this course?
No, and that is deliberate. Plenty of courses will take you with no experience at all. Microneedling is a needle on somebody else’s face, and the decision about whether to treat is made in the consultation, before the pen is switched on. Start with the Level 2 Facial Massage & Skincare qualification instead.
Do I need to bring a model?
No. I always supply the models, on every course. Some academies require you to find your own and cancel if you cannot, which is a real obstacle when you are retraining around a job.
Can microneedling be learned online?
Half of it, honestly. The anatomy, the contraindications and the aftercare work perfectly well as self-paced study, which is why the theory here is online. Needle depth is a physical judgement that changes across one face, and no video assesses whether you got it right.
